About

MetaStrip is a free, open-source metadata removal tool that runs entirely in your browser. Drop a photo, PDF, or Office document and it strips the hidden data your files carry — GPS coordinates, device serial numbers, camera info, author names, edit history, and AI generation tags (C2PA content credentials from DALL·E, Midjourney, ChatGPT, Firefly). The key difference from every other "metadata remover": files never leave your device. No server, no upload, no API call. Processing runs locally with open-source libraries, and you can verify it yourself in DevTools — zero outbound network requests fire when you process a file. Supported: JPEG, PNG, WebP, HEIC, TIFF, GIF, PDF, DOCX, XLSX, PPTX. Batch up to 20 files. Audio and video on the roadmap. No accounts, no ads, no tracking. MIT licensed. Built for journalists, photographers, lawyers, and anyone who'd rather not broadcast their home address every time they share a photo.
