36 comments, 2 new features: ProxyForge's launch

I want to share something that happened yesterday, because it's exactly why PostYourStartup exists.

ProxyForge launched with us last week. It generates working Nginx and Apache configs in seconds (reverse proxies, redirects, SSL and headers) and tests them on real servers. It went 46–32 in the Startup Battle, finished 4th, and got 36 comments and a review.

But the record wasn't the best part. PostYourStartup put ProxyForge in front of its first real users: people who actually run servers. They tried it, and they told Brent, its founder, what was missing.

Two of those comments turned straight into features:

• One asked how it handles Cloudflare's real-IP and redirect-loop issues. That's now a "Behind Cloudflare" option.
• Another asked about older Nginx packages that ship with some Linux distros. That's now an "Older Nginx (before 1.25.1)" option.

Both are live, tested against real Nginx before release. In Brent's words, getting that kind of input from people actually running servers "was worth more than the votes."

💡 The lesson: launch for the feedback, not just the votes

• Comments are free product research. The people who comment on your launch are often your first real users.
• Reply to every comment. Ask follow-up questions, because that's where the details come from.
• Ship what you hear, fast, then tell people you did it. Nothing builds early fans like "you asked, we built it."
