The initial concept was straightforward. I repeatedly asked myself whether the LLM API I was paying for was authentic. To address this, I developed a tool to verify it. The detector functions by analyzing over three hundred stylistic traits from each model. For instance, Opus 4.8 frequently uses words like "genuinely" and "honestly" and employs "I" often. I then created a classifier that identifies the actual model operating behind the API. According to more than one thousand real user tests, forty one percent of LLM APIs are counterfeit.
