Inference engines were originally designed for conversational AI, where each request uses identical compute resources at a fixed cost. Agentic AI operates differently, with persistent background processes and extensive context requirements. OpenInfer separates model execution over diverse compute nodes, enabling the use of hardware that traditional systems cannot support. It eliminates the need for high-end GPUs and establishes a new cost model. The OpenInfer Beta is available at no cost for background workloads. This is the inference stack created specifically for agentic AI.
