ScreenFold — Dim and mute with your lid

ScreenFold is a macOS menu bar application that leverages your MacBook lid as a gesture input. By tilting the screen beyond a set point, it intelligently mutes your system's audio, halts any playing media, and reduces the screen's brightness or applies a blur effect. Reversing the tilt restores all settings immediately. This functionality is enabled by an unpublicized lid angle sensor found in recent MacBooks, specifically all 14" and 16" MacBook Pro models, as well as MacBook Air M2 and later versions. To ensure stable performance, it employs a state machine with hysteresis, preventing erratic behavior around the activation threshold. ScreenFold also maintains compatibility when using external displays.
