About
Quven is a self-hosted media server for your own films, series, music, audiobooks, ebooks and comics. Install the server on a computer or a NAS (Windows, macOS, Linux or Docker), point it at your folders, and it'll recognise each title and fill in covers and plots by itself. Why native apps? Because a native app plays the original file whenever the device can decode it, so a 4K film or a 24-bit FLAC arrives untouched. There's one for Android TV and Fire TV and one for Android and iOS phones and tablets, with a desktop app for Windows and macOS on top. Start an episode on the TV and you can finish it on the phone. If you're coming from Plex or Jellyfin, an importer brings your watch history with you. The server and the apps are free for personal use, hardware transcoding included. No ads. Remote access through your own router costs nothing, and optional plans add a managed relay for routers that won't open a port, which also opens your library in a browser at app.quven.tv.
From the founder
What problem does Quven solve?
Most personal collections end up scattered across drives and apps, with a different program for each kind of media. Streaming services can't help, since they only show what they license. So people stitched tools together or settled for one that handled only video, and some even paid just to reach their own files away from home. Quven gathers everything into one library, recognises each title, fills in artwork and plots by itself and then plays the original file on whatever device you're holding, so nothing gets squeezed down to fit a stream first. It just plays.
